Soft Goods, Gear & Gifts
What you’ll need in this catch-all category may range from bedding to backpacks, but one thing is for sure: you always need to remember that anything you take on your boat will be exposed to the marine environment. Except for clothing and items that never come out of the cabin, that means sticking with marine-grade items or you risk being disappointed. Take foul weather gear, for example. A light rain jacket might be just fine for keeping you dry as you walk from your car to your house. But on a boat, that same rain jacket may soon prove ineffective if you get doused with spray for hours on end. Or consider those sunglasses perched atop your head. Cheap versions may do the trick on land, but in the nautical environment where glare is ever-present, you’ll need a top-notch pair to protect those peepers.
