Tips for Safe Fishing:
- Look behind you before casting so you won't catch your hook on a tree, power line, or another person.
- Bring along extra safety items such as water, flashlights, maps, and a cell phone or radio. More safe fishing tips.
- Always wear shoes, whether on shore, in a boat, or wading in the water. Stray hooks or sharp rocks, could cut your bare feet. In a boat, wear shoes designed to keep your feet from slipping.
- Don't put your hand inside the fish's mouth to retrieve a deep hook. Use a hook remover.
